Before you begin

This guide teaches you how to soft reset your Nintendo DS Lite. A soft reset is for when a game or software crashes and is frozen. If you are looking for a tutorial to do a hard reset, I recommend this guide: How to Perform a Hard Reset on the Nintendo DS Lite This guide does not fully reset the console to factory reset modes, but it is used for game and software crashes. NOTE: Doing this while a game is running may cause you to lose any data during that gameplay session.

Step 1

Turn off the console

Nintendo DS Lite Soft Reset — Turn off the console ⌕
  • Turn off the console by going to the side with the power switch sliding it towards the screen.
Step 2

Wait 10 seconds

Nintendo DS Lite Soft Reset — Wait 10 seconds ⌕
  • Wait at least 10 seconds.
Step 3

Turn it Back On

Nintendo DS Lite Soft Reset — Turn it Back On ⌕
  • Turn the system back on by pushing the power switch towards the screen just like in Step 1. Your DS Lite should be working normally now.
